Support for Oracle multitenant architecture (CDB and PDB) as source endpoint
Large enterprises uses the Oracle multitenant option to simplify support and maintenance of multiple databases. As part of this model, a single container database (CDB) can host multiple separate pluggable databases (PDB).
Currently, Qlik Replicate is not able to connect to pluggable databases (PDB) which prevents us from using it in multiple use cases. It would be great if the Log Miner option could work with PDB without requiring elevated permissions.
Oracle stated that, starting in Oracle Database 20c, a multitenant container database is the only supported architecture. It will no longer support non-container databases (non-CDBS). With that it becomes more critical to start planning on enhancing the LogMiner to support CDB/PDB. Without LogMiner support, we are forced to give elevated privileges to the replicate user which is of security concerns.
We are in the midst of installing Oracle Exadata in a multi-tenant environment. We currently use QLIK and have 8 or 9 Oracle databases (non CDBS) as QLIK source endpoints. We use the QLIK replicate log reader in all the Oracle source endpoints. Will QLIK support Oracle source endpoints in a exdata ASM muti-tenant environment and how would that be configured? Would we connect to the PDB or the CDB in the Oracle source endpoint?
