As is common knowledge, different User Roles have varying viewing and editing permissions on Qlik Catalog. For instance, MASTER_ANALYSTS can edit Metadata in Discover, while ANALYSTS can only view the Metadata in Discover. While testing the capabilities of each User Role, our team noticed that the UI did not change between MASTER_ANALYSTS and ANALYSTS. Both parties can click into Metadata editing text boxes and type. However, ANALYSTS receive a red Access Denied error when they go to save their changes.
To improve user experience on the site, Qlik R&D could grey-out un-editable fields for User Roles with restricted capabilities. This would reduce user confusion and help craft a friendlier user experience.
