The QVPR may need to be restored from backup or re-initialized and recreated.
The QlikView Publisher Repository (QVPR) stores tasks and triggers, as well as system-wide configuration. It should never be deleted on an active system. Backups are taken automatically and daily at 00:00.
By default, it is a set of XML files. These files are backed up as .zip files in %ProgramData%\QlikTech\ManagementService\QVPR\Backups.
Restoring when using the default .xml QVPR database:
- Navigate to C:\ProgramData\QlikTech\ManagementService\QVPR\Backups and select the .zip file that is the most recent properly working QVPR
- Copy and paste the zip file to C:\ProgramData\QlikTech\ManagementService
- Stop all QlikView services. (The minimum shutdown includes the QlikView Management Console and the QlikView Distribution Service).
- Rename the C:\ProgramData\QlikTech\ManagementService\QVPR folder to C:\ProgramData\QlikTech\ManagementService\QVPR_OLD
- Create a new QVPR folder in C:\ProgramData\QlikTech\ManagementService\
- Unzip and extract the backup QVPR to the C:\ProgramData\QlikTech\ManagementService\QVPR directory, replacing the one you just renamed.
- Restart the services and verify all functionality.
Restoring when the QVPR has been moved to a SQL database:
- No automatic backup will be done by QlikView when using an SQL database. The backup must be made available by the SQL server itself.
- Stop all QlikView services. (The minimum shutdown includes the QlikView Management Console and the QlikView Distribution Service).
- Restore your SQL database backup.
- Restart the services and verify all functionality.
Resetting the QVPR
- Stop all QlikView services. (The minimum shutdown includes the QlikView Management Console and the QlikView Distribution Service).
- Rename the C:\ProgramData\QlikTech\ManagementService\QVPR folder to C:\ProgramData\QlikTech\ManagementService\QVPR_OLD
- Create a new QVPR folder in C:\ProgramData\QlikTech\ManagementService\
- Unzip and extract the backup QVPR to the C:\ProgramData\QlikTech\ManagementService\QVPR directory, replacing the one you just renamed.
- Restart the services
- This will automatically create a new QVPR folder in C:\ProgramData\QlikTech\ManagementService\
- Verify all functionality
- Manually repopulate all settings that were lost during the reset
