Just in case you guys were curious and in case you guys every run into this issue in the future - I figured out something very simple to get past the issue.
I found an article on http session handling that showed how to set a cookie handler. All it took was adding a bean and referencing it on the http uri, instead of having to try to link an http component to a specific login.
