Every time i launch Talend Studio i get a dialog box with the only text: "java.lang.NullPointerException" and an OK button.
The dialog comes before the "Select Project" dialog.
I click OK and Talend Studio launches as normal.
OS: Windows 10 x64
Java: 1.8.0_191
Talend Studio 6.5.1
@Slup,it is not able to validate the license.
But Talend Studio starts up fully licensed for Integration and ESB work, which is the license we bought (after i click OK on the NullPointerException).
And if that is the problem then there is a UI bug, because the alert box is not very informative:
Hello,
Could you please give us some detailed steps to repro your issue?
Are you using SVN as repository or it is local connection?
Best regards
Sabrina
How to reproduce:
I launch Talend Studio
The splash screen comes on
The NullPointerException dialog comes on
I click OK
The "Select Project" screen comes on
I select project
Talend Studio comes on
We are hosting our repository on GitHub
Hello,
As we known that studio must get the git user name from TAC at least, are you setting "GIT login" and "GIT Password" for your user?
Here is online documentation about:TalendHelpCenter:Best Practices: Using Git with Talend 6.2 and later versions
Best regards
Sabrina
Yes I have entered my GitHub login into TAC.
I have no problem connecting to TAC and selecting my project and working with Git even with a local branch
Hello,
It's a little hard for us to address your issue from description. Would you mind creating a case on talend support portal? In this way, we would like to give you a remote assistance(webex session) through support cycle with priority.

I have a very similar issue, for me it's like this:
I launch Talend Studio
The splash screen comes on
(wait a long time)
git password pop-up
The NullPointerException dialog comes on
I click OK
git password pop-up again
The "Select Project" screen comes on
I select project
Talend Studio comes on
Did you have any success resolving this in the mean time?
I currently have a support ticket open.
I will write back here as soon as I know more
The problem was due to Workspace corruption.
Solution:
Create a new Workspace from scratch
