Registration: Malformed reply from SOCKS server

After having installed a new TOS version (6.1.1) and starting TOS a registration window pops up. Trying to connect to my existing Talend account I get the error message "Malformed reply from SOCKS server".
What could be the cause of this error? - Hint: I have to use a proxy. At least the settings for http and https work (yes - here https uses port 8080 and not the standard port 443). What is necessary on the proxy/firewall side for SOCKS requests?

Can you successfully dowload updates and modules without problem behind this proxy setting?
Please see my proxy setting screenshot in the preferences page.

Yes, I could successfully download the module necessary for MS SQL Server components (the module jtds-1.3.1-patch.jar)

It seems your Socks proxy didn't work well.
Have you tried to download other components successfully modules from external website? Is your network working well for you?
