TOS_DI-7.3.1 on Linux RedHat 8.5 : Unable to create a group context

Hello,

This is the first time I have encountered this problem since I started using Talend.

To start, here is my technical environment:

  • Creating a RedHat 8.5 (rhel-8.5-x86_64) Linux virtual machine using VMware Workstation V15
  • Installation of Talend Open Studio 7.3.1 on this Linux RedHat 8.5.
  • The delivery package TOS_DI-20200219_1130-V7.3.1.zip has been downloaded from https://sourceforge.net/p/talend-studio
  • To unzip the package, I used the shell command => unzip
  • Version java on RedHat : OpenJDK 64-Bit Server VM (build 25.302-b08, mixed mode) --> openjdk version "1.8.0_302"

Launching the studio goes well but when I right-click to create a new context group, nothing happens.

To see what's going on, I went to Windows => Show View => Error log and I have the following messages:

0695b00000LwrtTAAR.png

Also when I create a new job, in the contexts tab, I get the following error message :

0695b00000LwrtYAAR.png

This is the error message:

org.eclipse.ui.internal.ErrorViewPart cannot be cast to org.talend.designer.core.ui.views.contexts.ContextsView

I can create a new job, a new routine, a new connection in the metadata but I cannot create a new context group. Even when I import one of my projects, the context group appears in eclipse but I cannot open it.

For information, this problem does not appear on TOS_DI-7.1.1

But for all higher versions: TOS_DI-7.2.1, TOS_DI-7.3.1 and TOS_DI-7.4.1, I have this problem.

Do you have any idea how to solve this problem?

Thanks for your help.

Hello,

There seems to be a problem with UI dependencies.

Have you tried to recreat the workspace and re-installation of Talend Studio 7.3 to see if it works?

Best regards

Sabrina

Hello,

I have tried what you have suggested but it does not work. On the Talend website, it says that this version of TOS is compatible with the Linux OS RedHat 8.

I have tried several things but the result is still KO. I have not had this problem with Windows 10.

It is also strange that I can't find any information on the net about this error case. Are people using the Ubuntu distribution by default and no one is using RedHat?

Hello,

I don't have a RedHat 8.5 (rhel-8.5-x86_64) Linux virtual machine for testing your issue. (I'm trying to apply for it from our provisioning platform)

It seem to be a bug from operation system. Would you mind raising a jira issue of DI project on talend bug tracker?

Best regards
