Where did the Eclipse Java preferences go?

Hi,

In the past - you could access Studio's Java behavior, such as turning on/off the code auto-complete or defining coding styles in Windows --> Preferences --> Eclipse --> Java.

But since the latest patches - I don't see these options anymore.

Has it been moved somewhere else? Are they not available anymore?

How do I turn off code auto-completion?

Thanks,

DZ

Hi @DaniZ

When you go to Windows -> Preferences there's a category called "Java" with a subcategory "Editor"

Everything should be under here.

For example there is the Content category where you can choose the Java syntax color, auto completion can be found under "Input" or advanced option.

When you're in the preferences window, there is a search bar on top, type the keyword and you should find what you're looking for. For example "completion"

Hi @quentin-vigne

Unfortunately there seems to have been some change that was made in one of the latest patches which introduces this problem. I do NOT see the original preferences menu to which you are referring.

I'm attaching 3 images:

1. Screenshot of a clean install of 2024-05, where the original menu options DO appear

2+3. Screenshots after an update to the latest patch (2025-03) where the menu has changed and some of the menu options (including Java) don't appear anymore.

This issue started in one of the latest patches - not only in the most recent one, but I'm not sure in which exactly (I'm pretty sure that 2025-01 already had the new menu - but it could have been introduced even earlier).
Could you please take a look to see if this might be a bug?

Thanks,

DZ
