[resolved] Component installation

Hi everybody,
I premise that I'm new with Talend Studio and in general ETL programs.
I downloaded from the "Exchange" couple of components and yet I'm not able to install them.
I placed them in "talend component" folder and I can see them in "Exchange" in my TOS as from screenshot below

I installed all of them, restarted and yet can't find any of them in Palette when I open a job.
Anybody can help?
Thanks
Mattia

Hi,
Did you follow up KB article about: TalendHelpCenter:Installing a custom component to install your custom component?
Best regards

Sabrina,

I had checked that page, but I missed the step about extracting the folder from the ZIP files (I had only copied the ZIP files to that folder, since Java can read ZIP files).  I extracted the folder and it worked.  Thank you!

I still have a couple questions:

1) Do we still need to use the <install dir>\plugins\org.talend.designer....\downloaded folder, or can we specify any folder in Preferences > Talend > Components in 6.3?

2) The Downloaded Extensions tab in the Exchange still shows the extensions as downloaded, but not Installed (The links still say "Install").  Is this a known issue in 6.3?   Does the Exchange feature actually work?

Appreciate the help,
Jim

Hi,
You can  specify your user component folder in  Preferences > Talend > Components  in 6.3.
2) The  Downloaded Extensions  tab in the Exchange still shows the extensions as downloaded, but not Installed (The links still say "Install").  Is this a known issue in 6.3?   Does the Exchange feature actually work?

Could you please give us some trouble screenshots about this problem so that we can try to reproduce this issue on our side?

There's not much to see really, except the components are installed and working but the Exchange doesn't reflect that.

 Components are available

Components are in user component folder

Exchange does not show that components have been installed

Hmm, my screenshots don't appear to be showing up.  Are they awaiting moderation?
