Assigning Cores in Capacity Based Licensing

Hi,

Trying to understand how to appropriately assign number of cpu cores between two nodes.If I have a capicity based license with a max limitation of 8 cores but the actual server has 16cores, is it possible to distribute the 16 cores between the two nodes say for example assign node1 12 cores and node2 4 cores and will that improve the performance.
