Combo chart customization

Hi,

I'm stumped regarding the settings in my combo chart. As soon as I select a second KPI for the lines, the layout gets completely messed up.

Picture 1: everything is fine - the bars are of an adequate width, the date on the x-axis is displayed MM/YYYY (this format is set in the original dimension) and I could change the bar width settings in the chart settings if I wanted.

Picture 2: As soon as I select the percentage-KPI for the line, it suddenly looks like this:

The bars are just lines, the width-setting has vanished from the bar chart settings, and the month/year-format is suddenly changed into a full date. Also, the mini chart at the bottom can't be changed into a scroll bar, I can just select or deselect it.

What am I doing wrong?

Hi @Corfiz !

I was able to reproduce your issue. I believe what is happening is that when you add the second KPI, Qlik automatically enables "Use continuous scale" on the X-axis, and that makes the bars thin, the date format changes, and the mini chart appears.

Try going to Appearance → X-axis → uncheck "Use continuous scale".

Hope this helps!

Thank you so much! I'd been scouring the settings and thought I had tried everything - that one must have escaped me!

Looks like the chart is switching into a different combo-chart mode when you add the second KPI. The formatting options (bar width, date format, scrollbar) are being overridden by the combo chart settings.

Try adding both KPIs first, then adjust the axis and bar settings afterward. Also check that the percentage KPI is assigned only to the line axis and not changing the dimension/date handling.

If you share the BI tool (e.g., Qlik Sense, Power BI, etc.), the exact setting can be pointed out.
