Create one datefield for enddate and startdate.

Hi. I have 2 datefields (d-startdate and d-enddate). When I do the filtering I dont want to do two different selections. 

Whats the best solution for this? I have heard about intervalmatch and canonical-date aswell. Anyone who can give an example-script for any of these alternatives?
