Folder Data Connections

I noticed that in my system some of the folder connections point to the actual drive letter (D:\QVD) and others use the UNC (\\QVS-1\D$\QVD).

Is there a preferred method? 

What is the advantage of one way over the other?

The Qlik help just shows that you can do either.

I guess it comes down to portability.

Entering your source as D:\ ... Means another user wanting to load and run the app locally needs the source on their machine as well whereas if you identify the network location then you can host the app locally but the source can be in a centrally accessible place.
