How to remove timestamp from data column when source is file and to use it as search object.

I just started exploring Qlikview and I am stuck.
I have loaded excel file into Qlikview and i want one column in search field which is date column and its data type is Date and time. Now I don't want to show its timestamp in search column and I am not able to create custom column for that.
Also I am facing challenges like every time if change something in source file do i need to reload the same.
Can you maybe show the Excel file and draw what you want?
If you want a timestamp, use the timestamp() function in Qlik. If you want to transform this into a date (without timestamp) then use the Date() function.
