KPI Conditional Colors

Hello,

I'm trying to create a conditional color for a KPI where if it's below a certain letter then it's red and if it's above a certain letter then it's green. I tried to apply the conditional colors but it was not working. Is there any work around to this? Please see screenshot below. Thank you in advance!

it apparently will not allow you to set conditional colors if your measure is a string
