Learning about Map Objects

Qonnections and Qlik World have shown that Map objects can be versatile.  Things like Image to Map:

I confess, these look great, but can someone point me to a blog or post that has a simple explanation of the object and then builds from there?  I'm having a hard time visualizing how you go from a geographic map to something like this example (a car).  I was hoping one of the luminaries may have written something comprehensive on the Qlik Map object.

I'm not looking for an extension (not yet) but want to use what Qlik has provided.  Is there some place I can get a walk through video or blog, with examples that give me some context?
