Pick Match not working

=Pick(Match(vwaterfallDim, 'R1','C1','L1','C2')+1,
BUDesc,RegionDesc,CountryDesc,LocationIDDesc,GroundDesc)

If you try:

 

=Pick(Match('$(vwaterfallDim)', 'R1','C1','L1','C2')+1,
BUDesc,RegionDesc,CountryDesc,LocationIDDesc,GroundDesc)
