Problem setting up ODBC for Firebird 2.5

Hello guys, I am trying all day to connect to firebird 2.5

I have downloaded the driver from

Firebird: ODBC Driver

After I have installed the driver go into ODBC and try to connect to it, but whenever I click "Test connection" the ODBC crashes and restarts.

So After i contacted the Firebird bird support i got the following response:

"To access a firebird database, you need to have a firebird server running....

If there isn't one, then you should download and install a copy of the firebird server"

So the problem was that in my server i didn't have firebird server running, thats why it always gave out errors.

I reinstalled the drivers,

I installed the Firebird server, after that the Firebird ODBC(only the installation procedure, without the file with .dll's) .

After that i connected to the datasource without problem.

Thanks for your time !

let's try using the ODBC 32 bit version.

Dear Angel,

Have you tried to run whith local admin permissions?

Do you have another user and folder to store this file then trying to access?

I guess that something about permissions could be a problem.

Yes I am using the Administrator account.

I will now try to install it with the user I created for qlik sense who has full rights over everything, and will get back to you..

Don´t worry.

You can also try to create a ODBC32 bits connection like mentionned from Andre.
