Published sheet "incomplete visualization" for other users

I am new to Qlik Sense and hold the "data manager" access level.

I duplicated and published a sheet in a stream, the other users with access to the stream can open it but they get a "Incomplete visualisation" instead of the table I created. When I open it I can see everything as it should be.

I have ensured that it's published and approved, they have the right level access for the stream and it appears in the "public" section of the app.

What's the issue?

The Incomplete visualization error normally occur when trying to present a dimension that is not available. Could this be the case? Does your application use Section Access with OMIT, that excluded certain fields for certain users?

You duplicated and published a sheet, did you do any changes to it? What happens if you publish a copied sheet without any changes? Do they see it?

Thanks for the reply.

I duplicated an existing sheet they had access to in the app, removed the dimensions I didn't need. I did go through the data modelling to add in 1 or 2  extra dimensions. I would have assumed they had privileges to see any and all data loaded into the app?
How would I check that?

The same behaviour you will experience if your Qlik Sense has security roles allowing you to create master items or edit apps in published streams. In such scenarios you will need to make sure that all objects used were created in your Work stream and app was later published for other users.

Side note:

reason I learned about it was when I needed to make just 1 small tweak. I didn't want to duplicate app and republish it so I created security rule which was allowing me to do everything everywhere - I know, it was silly!

After making change to master item (changed expression in set analysis) everything worked for me, but all other users saw "incomplete visualisation" error.

DO NOT TRY THIS AT HOME 🙂

Sounds like you are making datamofel changes to a published app. You need to make sure that your data model changes are published. Are you able to see the new object in the published version of the app?

Thanks.

I have gone into the QMC for that sheet and can see the other user only has 'Create' user access selected.

How do I then change it to include "read" for this sheet?
I clicked on edit resources, but it's not clear what to do next.

To change user accesses you need to create or adjust in the security rules, but this is a dangerous path to go. You don't want an envrionment where you have to adjust the security rules for every new sheet you publish.

I believe that @Lech_Miszkiewicz  might be spot on your problem. I would suggest that you review the changes /additions you made to the standard Security rules and adjust so that duplicating-publishing sheets works without any custom pinpointed security rule adjustments.

I think I accidentally am spot on... long story short, this kind of changes in data model and objects should be done in developers work stream and once done whole app should be republished, full stop.
