Same template for all apps

Hello experts,

I hope you can find a solution for our problem:

Right now we have many Qlik Sense Apps, each for a different user. All of these apps are based on the same template - a qvf-file on our server.

We change and improve the template quite often. Each app has to reload on a daily basis. If we make changes to  the template file, simply reloading the apps won't work. Therefore, we automatically delete all apps every night and create them based on the latest template file.

Is there any way to reload all apps while including the latest template without having to delete the apps?

Thanks,

Julius Glock

Hi @J_Glock, it looks like a great idea to be requested in our Ideas forum.
Would shared pages work for your purpose?

Hey there,

sometimes we may only do a few, simple changes, like renaming a table or chart.

But we also do major changes like adding sheets, charts, measures, variables, dimensions etc. by adding lines to the script.

HI @Wlad_Masi ,

as far as i know, sharing the app would lead to having a single app including the data of all our users. We are bound to very strict data protection regulations. Please correct me if I'm wrong: Section Access may deal with this problem.

BUT: IMO, every app is already quite big. Loading all data into one single app will end in one massive app, right? I don't think that would be a satisfying outcome.

Hi @J_Glock,

You are correct, Section Access could limit the amount and type of data you display to each user based on rules you define.

You could also check this documentation: Managing big data with on-demand apps.

It looks to be what you are looking for.

Hey @Wlad_Masi ,

I just tried out creating a Selection App as well as a Template App and successfully made an On Demand App. Everything was quite easy but imo this won't help me with our problem. I just made some changes to the Template App. Next, i reloaded the On Demand App and the changes within the Template App weren't visible in the On Demand App. Therefore, I assume I'd have to delete the On Demand App and create a new one, if i want the changes of the Template App to be inside the On Demand App as well.
