Select Master Dimension/Variable as Dyanmic filter?

Hi There,

I created a dropdown that dynamically changes the dimension of the chart in the sheet: Year, Quarter and Month.
I had a look at 10 viz part created by @Patric_Nordstrom I so I emulated the scenario. 
The issue that I have now is that I want the month value to be selected from a master item (dimension) or, if not possible a variable?

My dynamic values as ='PERIOD_QTR|Month_viz|YEAR'. 

The Month_viz field is the master item and it does not work as it is not recognized when selected.
I also tried to replace it as a variable but it doesn't seem to be working either. The other 2 dimensions work as they are fields in the table. 

Has anybody ever achieved it?
