axes and measures

Hi, I don't understand how to distinguish between axes and measures.
Are there any web pages that are easy to use as reference?

Thank you.

Hello @louise119

Axes and measures are both important concepts in data visualization. Here are the differences between them:

Axes

  • Axes are the lines that define the boundaries of a chart or graph.
  • They are used to represent the different categories or groups in the data.
  • Axes can be horizontal (x-axis) or vertical (y-axis).
  • The x-axis is usually used to represent the independent variable, while the y-axis is used to represent the dependent variable.

Measures

  • Measures are the numerical values that are being measured or compared in a chart or graph.
  • They are used to represent the data points or values for each category or group.
  • Measures can be displayed as bars, lines, or other shapes depending on the type of chart or graph being used.
  • In a bar chart, measures are usually displayed on the y-axis, while the x-axis represents the categories or groups.

In summary, axes are used to represent the categories or groups in the data, while measures are used to represent the numerical values being measured or compared.

Thank you so much.

When I use a data item for the axis, the numerical value is displayed, but
When I use a data item for a measure, it often happens that the number is not displayed.

Do you know what causes these things?
