compare two line chart from different time

Hi,

i'm looking to compare two time range from a single measure.

I know i can add a dimension to compare multiple years with months as dimension.

But i'd like to compare two specific time range, that the user would define.

When i got my two x dimension: month  and year, we get a line chart with a line for each year and month as x axis

i could define one variable to replicate that with a specific time, which would be function of a user selection.

But $[Year] is a system var, is there a way to define a variable for that use...

hope someone got an hint ..

thx

Perhaps try two charts with Alternate States ?

Yeah nah, the whole point of this is to compare two line chart indeed, but in the same graphic.
For example, : Machine A worked fine at 10pm and the line chart of motor rpm having a  specific shape. i want to compare the shape of the curve. Having the comparison curve in the same graphic make the analysis easier.

Had thought about that but using two graphic a whole page for that was a bit overkill
