when to use mapping load and when to avoid ?

Mapping load creates a look up table  with only 2 fields

first field is always the reference field and second field is the return value field

You would use mapping load to look up a value from another table which is not availabe in your current table

like vlookup on excel

You would avoid mapping load if you have a large number of rows and more than one columns to add;
