Get Mode of dimension - apply that dimension's colour in straight table?

I have a measure column that finds the most frequent occurrence of a particular category,  but I'd like to highlight the background based on the result of that mode () function.

I've tried simply referencing the colour field,  which is linked 1:1 to the category field,  but nothing happens.

I've tried using the mode() function on the colour field, but some category colours are the same , so that technique fails also.

Any suggestions would be greatly appreciated,  I thought this would be fairly simple to achieve , but am confounded.

Here's an example QVD  -  I included the target colours based on what they should be - so it's easier to understand.

As you can see from the coloured table / chart,  A should return Blue, B Green, and C Red
