How to clear Qlik Sense selection

Hi there

I'm using Qlik Sense Enterprise.

How can selections in Qlik Sense be cleared? Each time I open a Sense App the same selections are already made. There is no ability to 'save' the current selections or to clear all selections and then save so that each time the app is open, there are no selections made.

This is causing a particular problem for me, because there is a selection / filter on a field that I do not want users to be able to change, as it doesn't feature any filter panes that I have set up.

Thanks.

Hi Andrew,

I've already faced that problem as well, you can follow these steps to remove:

  • Export the application in QMC
  • Download Qlik Sense Desktop, and the exported app have to be copied into user/documents/Qlik/Sense/app folder (or into the install destination)
  • Open the app in Qlik Sense Desktop
  • Clear selections and push the save button
  • Import the edited app on server, and overwrite the old app if is it need.

There are few thread in here, with same problem, if it isn't help.

I am having the same issue, I am just not sure what is supposed to be the behaviour? Is Qlik Sense supposed to clear all the filters and open the app without filters? Or is it supposed to open the selections from when the app was last saved? I can not find any explanation of the default behaviour. Anyway, I have tried this (without luck):

- Open the app

- Clear the selections

- Edit the script

- Make some changes that do not influence the actual script logic (added some blank lines)

- Save the app

- Reopen the app

- The selections are still there

And this:

- Open the app

- Clear the selections

- Wait for > 30 seconds (autosave in QMC Engine settings)

- Reopen the app

- The selections are still there

If anyone could explain what Qlik Sense is supposed to do here, that would be great.

Hi Joost,

Sense clears all filters at opening an app, this is its behaviour.

The experienced behaviour is probably a bug.

To solve this try my marked response.

Does anyone know if Qlik has confirmed this as a bug or if this is fixed in 2.2?

I am seeing this also, quite annoying, and it does seem to persist in 2.2

Hi,

I think it is due to the server/desktop version different behaviour in some same thing.

It can be frustrating the automated selected items in server version, without save button to solve the problem.

I've faced this problem 2 times at this point, I think it is a bug, but it is toleralable, if you know how to solve this.

It could be work by create/delete bookmark and open bookmark through URL. I would be happy

This is a known issue but we are not certain of all scenarios this may occur in QlikSense Server.

The current plan is to change the behavior to never keep the selections, but this is still under discussion internally in Qlik.

The workaround in QlikSense Server to remove those unwanted selections is to:

- Open the app in one tab and clear selections.

- At the same, in another tab (without closing the first tab), open the data load editor and perform a reload of the app

If the issue is solved please mark the answer with Accept as Solution.

This approach works fine. It's easier to do.

Thanks Damien
