Size of app without data is too big

We have a Qlik Sense app that has an initial size of 300MB (according to QMC). When we extract the app from QMC, the size is around 420MB (disk size, according to windows). Trying to identify where that difference in size comes from I removed all charts / variables / images / master items etc. Then I add an exit script at the beginning of the app and reload. Then app becomes around 160k of size according to QMC, but when I download the app it is still 90MB, which does not make sense.
I then copied the script from the main app to a new app and did the same as above. Size of the app at the end is 160k in QMC and the same when I extract it and check the file size.
We would like to understand where this difference is coming from, as this extra 90MB will affect the time the app takes to open.
I have the two apps available so that you can check. As I cannot attach the files here, please let me know where I can send these.

Hi,

Perhaps when you export the app, Qlik Sense embed images. Do you have image inside your apps ?

Have you try to open your app with Qlik Sense Desktop and see if you have residual files?

Hi,

I had a similar problem. An empty app (no data, no sheets, just a script and a 200 KB image for the thumbnail) weighed 30 MB once exported.

In fact, my app previously contained heavier images, which I had since deleted from the gallery in “My Work”. Then I published my app to the appropriate stream, replacing the existing app, and exported this published app.
It turns out that publishing an app without media to a stream as a replacement for an existing app does not remove the medias from the already published application.

Even if the app in “My Work” contains no images (or other media), once published, all the images would come back.

In other words, if you delete images from an app, do it from the published app, not from your workspace.
