JIRA web connector username did not match

I presume I am doing something basic wrong but when I put the base url as the root domain for my Atlassian JIRA cloud instance I get: 

'Username did not match'

Does the base url include any more information in the url above https://company_name.atlassian.net ? 

I though that Atlassian had got rid of usernames recently so I don't know if the email I am using is correct for this connector, or I am getting the base url wrong.

I have successfully connected using the REST connector so I know I have connectivity and authentication details correct, but just wanted to explore what the JIRA web connector provided.

I'll answer my own question after a bit of trial and error.

It turns out rather simply that the username is not your email, but the start of the email without the domain.  All connected ok after that.
