QMC Not Loading Data From REST API Call

I successfully created a connection and a report that is implementing a REST connection. The application works well and i can refresh the data manually from Load data Editor -> Load Data with no error. I am now trying to publish the app using QMC but it is failing to load the data (refresh).

I have tried the following:

1. changed the connection owner to the QMC user

2. changed security settings (basically  mirrored a working connection)

but still it is failing. See attached error message. Anyone who can point me in some direction?
