Qlik YouTube Connector help!!!

Hi all,

I am new to the world of Qlik Connectors for YouTube, and all I am trying to do is connect through to pull out some stats (views, likes, dislikes, shares) by date and video on our channel.

I can use the report builder to get all this by date (using "day" dimension), but whenever I add in the "video" dimension I get an error (400: badRequest) saying that the parameters are incompatible, which would seem odd. Therefore I assume that this is something I am doing wrong rather than the connector not being able to extract what I need.

Would welcome help to get this across the line. Thanks in advance!

Hello,

Thanks for posting your query.

We find that you must include the below information:

  • Sort field must contain a value like -views. You may add an Asterisk.
  • Additionally, when using video as dimension is not supported unless "video filter specifies multiple values".

Let us know your feedback if this works for you.

Thanks,

Padma Priya

Hi Padma,

Thanks for the info, I can confirm that the approach of ensuring the video ids were used in the filter box does allow it to work, but means we need to define which videos we want information on, not just allowing all data around videos on our channel to come through.

Is there an alternative whereby we can just query the channel, and all videos in that channel will flow through?

Also, it doesn't give the video's actual name, just the ID. Is this something that can be added in?

Many thanks, Jon

@Jon_87 These pages may be useful as I think they document the reports you can run and valid combinations of dimensions, metrics and filters:

https://developers.google.com/youtube/analytics/channel_reports#video-reports
https://developers.google.com/youtube/analytics/content_owner_reports#video-reports

(I believe these are also linked from the table description in the connector).

Asterix helped me in this case, too. I was running my YouTube channel and I was lucky because I was working with loader.to. This is the most convenient method which helped me to convert files to video format. I'm sure it can be an effective option for you to have success in this direction. When I was running my youtube channel, there were no restrictions for me to have a positive result. I'm sure there are a lot of interesting opportunities that you can take advantage of.
