I'm going through Silently installing or upgrading PostgreSQL using the Qlik PostgreSQL Installer documentation which mentions a list of arguments that can be used to install a PostgreSQL database. One of the arguments is dbhost
.
Does anyone know when the dbhost
argument would be anything other than localhost
?
Hi,
dbhost argument is localhost when you use the PostgreSQL bundled with Qlik, or Standalone PostgreSQL on the Qlik Server.
When you use an external PostgreSQL database as the Repository, dbhost should be the fqdn or IP of the server which host the DB.
Kind regards

Isn't the Qlik PostgreSQL Installer (QPI) only applicable to Qlik Sense environments that have bundled PostgreSQL database?
In other words, it's impossible to install a bundled PostgreSQL database on a different server, right? If PostgreSQL and Qlik Sense are bundled, they both must live on the same server, right?
You're goddamn right !
haha good to hear. I thought I was losing my mind.
So if QPI tool only works for bundled PostgreSQL, and bundled PostgreSQL must live on the same server as central Qlik Sense node, then the dbhost
argument will never be anything other than localhost
. At least when we're talking about using QPI tool to unbundle and upgrade PostgreSQL from Qlik Sense, is that right?
You've said everything !
