All,
As we know With Qlik Sense Enterprise May 2021 and on, a fresh installation of Qlik Sense Enterprise on Windows will not deploy Centralized Logging.
I upgraded to Qliksense November 2021 version and centralized logging is still available.
Now, I have an plan to upgrade to May 2022 version.
Question is.
Upgrade to whatever version just keeps existing centralized logging?
Fresh installation of qliksense only will not deploy centralized logging?
Thanks
Hello @jpjust,
I just ran a quick test on my testing machine by upgrading from August 2021 to May 2022 and the logging service is not there anymore after the upgrade.
Kindly, try it on your test environment and let us know if you have the same outcome.
Cheers,
Albert
Hello @jpjust ,
Indeed after upgrading to May 2022 the Monitoring apps are set to read the files logs only as below:
SET db_v_file_override = 1;
On previous versions it used to be:
SET db_v_file_override = 0;
I could have been the same if upgrading to February 2022.
Cheers,
Albert
Hello @jpjust ,
I could test it myself late this week and I can confirm what you said, after moving to May 2022 the log_entries table is not getting updated.
Hence, as mentioned, unless you want to keep such QLogs DB for historical reasons or other reasons, you might think to drop it so it does not consume space of your disk.
Cheers,
Albert
Hi,
To answer your question.
Yes, correct.
With Qlik Sense Enterprise May 2021 and on, a fresh installation of Qlik Sense Enterprise on Windows will not deploy Centralized Logging and if you are upgrading the version it keeps the existing centralized logging.
see article:
Thanks
Thank you Richard.
As fresh install is tedious while companies are in the middle of using qliksense, as long as we upgrade and keep the centralized logging is fine?
The updated monitoring app is available only on the fresh install?
Hi @jpjust,
Also see the Qlik Sense Help entry Configuring the Monitoring apps for further information. It details steps needed to change the apps from pulling from Centralized Logging database to the Qlik Sense archived logs.
Best Regards

What I am curious about is, why upgrade option not removing the centralized logging?
What is the benefit of not having centralized logging? And if ever there will be an situation from qlik that we will forced to do an fresh install in-order to remove the centralized logging?
Thanks
Hello @jpjust ,
As mentioned on the previous post, just upgrading is removing the logging service without a need of a fresh install.
Kindly, let us know if any remining question on this topic.
Cheers,
Albert
Thanks Albert, I misunderstood.
Few months ago, we upgraded to qliksense November 2021 version.
According to this article : https://community.qlik.com/t5/Support-Updates-Blog/Deprecation-of-Centralized-Logging-in-Qlik-Sense-...
With Qlik Sense Enterprise May 2021 and on, a fresh installation of Qlik Sense Enterprise on Windows will not deploy Centralized Logging.
With November 2021 version, upgrade, Centralized logging remains. So If I upgrade to May 2022 then the logging service will be removed?
Thanks
Thanks Boris. So the monitoring app's that is included on the upgrade will be modified by qlik a bit to go flat files instead of logging database?
