Qlik Sense Repository (QSR) database backup size halved after upgrade to November 2021

We have multiple Qlik Sense cluster and recently upgraded Qlik Sense Enterprise on Windows software from June 2020 Patch 3 to November 2021 Patch 3 on these clusters on different dates.

We already had QSR database backups being created in automated fashion daily for all the clusters. Just after the upgrade, the size of QSR backup files has reduced to almost half of what it was before the upgrade. This reduction in size of backups is seen from the date of upgrade for all clusters.

Is this expected behavior for QSR backups? What is the cause of this reduction in size?

P.S.- Repository database is on the Central node for all clusters.

Hello,

its possible that a few tables were truncated during the upgrade because they are not in use any more.

The best way to see what actually changed is to import the old qsr backup you have on a standalone postgresql installation and then run the queries from that article: https://community.qlik.com/t5/Knowledge/Excess-space-consumption-by-Repository-folder-of-Qlik/ta-p/1...

After that run the same queries about the November 2021 Qlik Sense QSR database.

best regards

Sebastian
