QlikSense Desktop (free) discontinues in June 2020

Today I read that QlikSense desktop will no longer available for download and use (as well as existing installations) from June 2020.

Rumour or fact ?

Why do this ? Besides profiteering ? Surely there are other ways to encourage early adopters ? Forcing people to Qlik SaaS offering is not a great option as it does not support much in the way of extensions and of course locks out 3rd party extension provides such as VizLib which I use when prototyping before migrating to a server.

Qlik is the best BI product on the market. It struggles with marketing itself (I don't know why!), products like Power BI are frankly sub-standard whenever I have used it.

Qlik Sense Desktop free edition needs to be in Qlik's ecosystem. Trying to convert the community which uses this product and ultimately SELLS it to the customer feels like a wrong move.

The members need to continue being vocal about this.

This guy was creating qlik sense tutorial videos on youtube. Latest one is covering his exploration of power BI. Has to switch because he can't get QS desktop for "free" anymore.
