QlikSense Evnrionment(s) setup

Hello,

We are in the process of setting up a QlikSense environment and I had a couple of questions regarding the QS setup for various data environments. We have a Development, User testing and Prod environments for our data and data in the lower environments are masked and lower volumes as well. They are also geographically in different locations.

While setting up QlikSense environments

1. Is it typical to setup one Qliksense env for each of the data env assuming data loads in each of the env or driven from the respective env?

2. Or is it typical to setup one Qliksense environment that has nodes in each of the locations of the data env?

Thanks so much

Mad

Hi Mad,

Qlik offers 2 different way to deploy the nodes (Sync and Shared persistence). Since Sync will soon no longer supported, it's safe to have a look on the shared persistence which does not support geographical cluster. So don't be spoiled for choice, your number (2) will be the only one supported.

Great, thanks Vincenzo, that is very helpful...

Does that mean then the promotion process across environments will be a manual process ?

Apps developed in Dev, published and looks good in dev...

Need to promote the app to UAT, is this done via QDF manually?

Thanks again for your help

Mad

You can promote app manually or using API. You can also find some extensions that can help you. May be this (Qlik Branch) should help
