Sense upgrade fails

Hi all

I'm trying to upgrade my dev sense environment to sense 3.0.1 with no luck.

I installed Microsoft Visual C++ 2010 Redistributable Package (x64) like I read in some posts here and that didn't help either.I'm attaching here the log file. I have no idea how to read it..

Thanks!

Anat

From what version you are trying to upgrade?

is it a Service release to service release?  2.0.X --> 3.0.X

or Feature release to Service Release? 2.2.X --> 3.0.x

You can not upgrade feature release to SR i believe. Only option is to uninstall and then install 3.0

My current version is 2.2.3.1 and I'm trying to upgrade to 3.0.1 (Service release).

I don't want to loose all my apps and configurations..

So I'm not sure what I'm doing wrong here

So you are on FR and trying to install SR. i dont think it is possible as far as i know.

Can you try installing the IR (initial release) 3.0.0 and see if that works. It it works then upgrade 3.0.0 to 3.0.1

I would strongly suggest to take a backup of the site/repository.

About Service & Feature Releases

In between each Initial Version of Qlik Sense there are two tracks of updates; a Service track and a Feature track. The difference would be that the Service track fix bugs and each Service Release would not be a full install. Each Service Release can be rolled back.

A Feature Release is a full install and introduces not only bug fixes but also new features. This means a Feature Release could be used to deploy a new Qlik Sense Site. It is not possible to automatically roll back a Feature Release. Only manually by having a backup available from the previous installed Feature Release version.

You can always choose to use the Feature Release track at any time but you can only choose to stay on the Service Release track after installing new Initial Version. As with all upgrades we do recommend a backup before running the installer.

of course I saved a snapshot of the machine.

I will try to do as you suggested.

Thanks!

Hope it works

I have all kind of versions in my environment but i kept FR's on different boxes and SR & IR's on separate boxes.

Mark this question as answered once it is resolved.

Thanks

So I tried again with IR and even deleted the Program data\Qlik and Program data\Package Cache folders as someone suggested it in another post, and that didn't work as well..

I'm still receiving the same error in the log file: "Installation success or error status: 160

So you are completely uninstalling and then a fresh install?

I was just trying to follow a suggestion that worked for someone else, but that didn't work as well.

Since this is my test environment and I do have a snapshot of it I'm willing to try anything.

In my production site I can't erase my apps obviously.

But since this didn't work, I really don't know what to do next..
