Upgrading QlikSense May 2021 doesn't upgrade PostgreSQL version from 9.6 to 12.5.

Hi Team,

Recently I upgraded one of our Qlik Sense server from Feb 2021 to May 2021 version. Upgrade completed successfully. But Though the Qlik Sense got upgraded, PostgreSQL is still the same version (9.6).

We want PostgreSQL to upgraded to version 12.5. Is there any possibility?

Also our system while we are upgrading QlikSense;

1) No Internet Connection

2) Visual C++ 2013 installed (for postgresql 12 it is required C++ 2015 - 2019)

Do you think postgreSQL has not got updated because oft he above following?

Thanks

Hello,

When upgrading to Qlik Sense May 2021, Postgres is not being upgraded along.

Only when doing a fresh installation of Qlik Sense May 2021, Postgres 12 will be deployed.

There will be an article released this week or next week providing a solution to get Postgres 12 when using the bundled Postgres (The one delivered with the Qlik Sense installer). I will attach the link once available.

Otherwise the alternative is to move to a dedicated Postgres instance in which case you will have control of the Postgres version deployed.

Hope this helps!

Hi Bastien,

If we have C++ with 2013 and working environment with Feb 2021 and planned upgrade this week end.

In this case, do we need to upgrade Visual C++ to 2015-2019? with existing postgreSQL 9.6 or this is not mandatory to upgrade into 12.x with May 2021?

Thanks

Hi!

Haven't tested this scenario myself, but since VC++ is a Postgres dependency and as the Postgres version will not upgrade I wouldn't expect the need to upgrade it.

Hi Bastien,

We are in Feb'2021 version of Qliksense and we don't have an plan to upgrade to May version of Qliksense.

We run standalone version of Postgres and the version is 9.6, probably installed with some version of qliksense installation or upgrade.

Do you think for any security concerns, its recommended to upgrade the postgres to 12.5?

Thanks

Hello @Bastien_Laugiero

@Maria_Halley

we followed the same steps mentioned in the article but after reinstalling Central , RIM nodes were in offline status and we have to reinstall them again in order to make the full site operational. This is a test environment but i think for Production we need more efficient solution like maybe upgrading Postgres without affecting current configurations.
