Insights Advisor Ask a Question Using Disabled and Hidden Dimensions in the Model

Hello,

I have a sales application in Qlik SaaS, where we have edited the Logical Model to limit the dimensions and expressions available for Insights Advisor. As expected, the "Explore your Data" feature only shows the enabled dimensions and measures as per the Logical Model.

However, when using the "Ask a Question" feature, the changes to the Logical Model are not being followed.  Our scenario has two customer name dimensions, "Customer Name" and "Customer Name Assoc".  The "Customer Name Assoc" field is hidden, and the Data value lookup has been set to No in the Logical Model.  When I ask Insights Advisor a question about a specific customer, like "What is Customer Name "Acme Inc" Sales", Insights Advisor will apply a filter to the visualizations using the "Customer Name Assoc" field, instead of the Customer Name field which is visible and has Data value lookup set to Yes.

How can I get Insights Advisor Natural Language to only use the fields that are Visible and have Yes for the Data value lookup?

The application has been reloaded and published to a Managed space, and the problem continues to happen.

Any insights would be appreciated.

Thank you,

Lucas

I had the same exact problem.  I realized that the visibility is not the correct attribute.  What you need to do is "Ungroup" all the fields you really want hidden.  When you click a field you want completely ignored by insight advisor, a few options appear in the top right next to "Create Group".  One of those options is "Ungroup".  Down at the very bottom will be a category of all the ungrouped fields that you can see in my screenshot.  Hopefully that helps.

Thank you.  That caused the field to no longer be used by Insights Advisor.

Unfortunately, now Insights Advisor is not picking up on any Customer Names and is ignoring the "Customer Name "Acme Inc"" completely.

Thank you,

Lucas

You could try rephrasing your question.  I don't think you need to put the field name "Customer Name" in your prompt.  You should be able to just ask "What are sales for Acme Inc?".  Also make sure that "Acme Inc" is stored exactly like that in the model without any white space or punctuation.  I don't think it will pick up "Acme, Inc" or "Acme Inc." or "Acme Inc  ".
