Passing selections with 'Execute automation' action

The new 'Execute automation' action in Button has option 'Include selections'. Is there any documentation or tutorial how selections can be used in Automation?

I just tried this new feature but i was unable to get it to work. The exact same API request (GET) are sent regardless of the "Include selections" checkbox. I just created a simple automation with a start and output block to start the investigation on how the data is sent and how it can be used.

Saas help for button don't mention the execute automation;
