Transparent background ?

Sorry - somewhat new to all of this.

I am trying to do 2 things,

1. Make the entire widget be transparent excet for border lines and text.

and or

2. Make just the background transperent (parent) while the child is colored.

Any help would be helpful (please note - still new to all this) thanks !
