Configuring Load Balancing for Dedicated Application Access on New Qlik Sense Engine Node

Hello,

We have a Qlik Sense environment with the following setup:

  • 1 Central node
  • 4 scheduler nodes for reloads
  • 3 engine nodes for end-user access

Our objective is to add a fourth engine node, configured to handle only specific applications. When users access these applications, we want them directed to this specified node.

Current configuration details:

  • Load balancing is configured for the 3 existing engine nodes in the QMC.
  • There is a single URL (www.qliksite.com) managed under BIG-IP.

Thank you

Hello

Below are some resources as this functionality is usually accomplished by adding virtual proxies. I think what you are asking would require separate URL in BIG-IP.

Hi ,

Thank you for your response.

I have one question. Since we must use the existing URL in BIG-IP, adding a separate URL isn’t an option.

Here's my proposed approach:

  1. Add a new node to the system.
  2. Include the new node in BIG-IP.
  3. Exclude the node from load balancing for the QMC application.
  4. Set up a new configuration in the QMC.
  5. Create a load balancing rule to direct application traffic to this dedicated node using the new configuration.

From my perspective, this approach should work without causing any rule conflicts. Could you please confirm if this aligns with best practices, or let me know if there are any potential issues?

Regards,
David
