What will be the alternative to Qlik Sense Desktop once it stops being free in June 2020?

Hi all,

What will be the alternative to Qlik Sense Desktop once it stops being free in June 2020?

Will there be any free version at all in an alternative way?

This is as an individual user for personal work, not using the desktop version in an enterprise/business user.

QlikView Desktop Personal Edition, for as long as it's still around.

Thanks for the info.

This is not a very optimal move by Qlik.

The free QS desktop version was a great way to highlight why Qlik is special and also a great learning tool, which only benefits Qlik the more people know about the product.

On one hand Qlik are aggressively pushing Qlik Sense which is a totally different product to develop on compared to QS and QlikView is not really marketed out as much by Qlik.

As a Qlik customer representing enterprise and as a developer this decision doesn't sit well with me.

Please note that I'm a partner and my reply is in no way a statement from Qlik.
We are in the same boat as you to what direction Qlik is taking with desktop (or any other product).

Qlik Sense Cloud will work for free.

It's the same product, only in cloud instead of local installation.

And be aware - your data are still your data, no one wants to use ore store them....

In the Cloud someone stores your data.

Thanks guys, could someone please point me to the URL to sign up to the cloud?

I understand "cloud" is the future but clients are still reluctant to use it, ultimately the data is more risky to put on the cloud compared to in-house.

Hi @mwallman

Qlik Sense Business is not really free. You only get a free 30 day trial. Then its US$30 per user per month

My view is Qlik has made a decision to focus only on the cloud and almost totally on the larger corporations. This will upset some (or many) users who liked what Qlik once stood for. But the decision has been made and its unlikely to be reversed
