Qlik_Sense_Desktop_20151202144423 getting this issue once try to install it on Windows server 2012 R2

See attached for the log that i`m getting once trying to install QlikSense on Window server 2012 R2.

anyone experienced this before?

Hi,

can you make sure you install the .NET Framework 4.5.2 before installing Qlik sense desktop.

If you installed .Net framework already, try one of these methods.

Try one of these methods and reinstall

Method-1:

You have to rename (or remove) the Folder "Qlik" in your local user Documents Folder:

"C:\Users\youruser\Documents\Qlik"

Method -2:

1. Open regedit

2. Seach for HKCU\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\User Shell Folders

3. Change the path in "Personal" entry to a local path, but remember the old path!

4. Now you can install qliksense without an error.

5. Change the path in "Personal" to your old.

the answer is in the log:

Qlik Sense Desktop is not supported on Windows Server

You have to install QS Desktop on a Windows Client (Win7, 8 or 10)

How come QlikView Worked and qliksense didnt on the server then?

if you  read system req you know is Qlik Sense Desktop can't be install on server versions of windows.

But we know a workaround. Install Qlik Sense Desktop in win7, 8 or 10. And copy folder C:\Users\youusername\AppData\Local\Programs\Qlik\Sense\ on your Windows server.

of corse you need instal .NET 4.5.2 before use it.

For QlikView Desktop, it is possible to be installed on server.

The reasen may that with QlikView you need the desktop version to define the applications and publish them by server.

Qlik Sense (in enterprise mode) works on server only (by entering the hub with browser)

Agreed -. Qlik Sense desktop is a free software product. Its the freemium model. QlikView desktop is a licensed product. Not the same market positioning / usage.  For the free product (sense desktop) it cannot be installed on a windows server.
