After upgrading QlikView to May 2023 IR, charts may show as blank objects in Qlik NPrinting.

Qlik NPrinting Designer displays the images correctly in preview mode.

 

Environment

Qlik NPrinting Any version
QlikView May 2023 IR
Nprinting Reports: Excel, PowerPoint, PDF

 

Resolution

This is currently being investigated.

The issue is found to be with QlikView May 2023 IR not with any Qlik NPrinting versions. It works perfectly fine with QlikView May 2022 SR2 and earlier supported QlikView versions.

Also, the problem occurs when Qlik View Server Connection is used in Qlik NPrinting connections.

 

Workaround:

Use QlikView local connection while creating an Qlik NPrinting connection.

Workaround of creating local connection doesn't work either. The only possibility we are planning is to downgrade / roll back the upgrade

We are already using the Local connection only. But its not helped to resolve the issue.

I'd like clarity if this issue (QV-24977) has been resolved with the May 2023 SR1 released yesterday?

I have read the release note, and find it a bit ambiguous:

"Known issues:

QV-24977: Because of a critical issue with chart rendering in NPrinting reports we had to revert the fix"

Hello All,

Please read our Release notes Qlik View May 2023 SR1 for QV-24977

Because of a critical issue with chart rendering in NPrinting reports we had to revert the fix QV-19899. This is a potential problem for servers with Enable Push from Server enabled since it can lead to reports failing. If this should occur, we recommend disabling Push from Server.

To do this,

  • Open the affected Qlik View app on Qlik View Desktop
  • Go to Document Properties
  • In the "Server" tab, disable "Enable Push from Server"
