This is important because number ranges are stored in the application server's buffer and if changes to the NRIV table have been performed (for example, by executing Gold Client's Number Range utility), you will want to inform the servers to drop what is currently stored in the buffer and return to the NRIV table in order to get the updated entries. Be aware that this is standard SAP functionality that can be executed via t-code SM56; please refer to OSS note #1019692 for more information.
For additional information regarding Number Ranges and how they can be managed using Gold Client, reference the Gold Client Number Range User Guide.
