As part of our ongoing SaaS product roadmap, we are excited to announce the launch of Qlik Sense Business, our newest SaaS offering designed to help groups and teams collaborate on analytics and make faster data-driven decisions.

Is this the same as Qlik Sense Cloud Business?

No, and it’s not just a name change, either. Qlik Sense Business is a new, enhanced offering with more capabilities that groups and teams can use to build and share apps for greater discoveries.
Qlik Sense Business runs on Qlik Cloud Services, our cloud-native, Kubernetes-based SaaS platform that also hosts Qlik Sense Enterprise.  Qlik Sense Business users will now benefit from the same speed, performance, and availability as our enterprise SaaS users. Additionally, Qlik Sense Business also shares the same enhanced and redesigned user interface, cloud hub, and management console as Qlik Sense Enterprise on Qlik Cloud Services.

Qlik Sense Business users benefit from:

•  Full Qlik Sense analytics capabilities, including the Associative Engine
•  All of Qlik’s latest augmented intelligence capabilities, including insight suggestions
•  Drag-and-drop app creation and fully interactive apps
•  A personal space to create your own content and share with anyone you wish
•  Five shared spaces where your team members can do-develop and share apps
•  Direct data connectivity to over 40 data sources
•  Automated data refreshes

The global roll out of Qlik Sense Business is underway. Be one of the first by to start your 30-day trial now. You will be able to create your tenant in minutes, and begin creating and sharing apps immediately – all without any downloads or installations.

Currently a Qlik Sense Cloud Business user?

Stay tuned for upcoming details next months. We’ll tell you how you can migrate from Qlik Sense Cloud Business and subscribe to Qlik Sense Business. You’ll also be eligible for a limited-time offer savings when you migrate your existing cloud subscription.

Hi Jordy, that is not correct at this point. Only the app owner (= app creator) has access to the data load editor. It is correct that you can assign an ‘edit’ role in order to let someone make adjustments to the app, but that is just for the sheets (visualizations). Changing the owner of a space does not solve this issue.

I heard it is on the roadmap to change this, but I have not received a timeframe yet. This is not just for Qlik Sense Business but also Qlik Sense Enterprise on Cloud Services.

Yes correct, I've just tested it my self and it doesn't work indeed. It is possible when you, not as creator, get the app to your own personal space and then publish it again. Though, you would have two versions and you don't want that..

Its one area that definitely needs improvement that is otherwise a great product (although it needs more on user details as well). I wrote the following (from above post) but IMO this whole area needs a lot more thought and improvement.

For example I would like two 'sheet only self service' options (and for personal sharing not just 'Shared Spaces'). Where option 1 a user can set up sheets as required only using master items (including dimensions but esp measures). Or option 2 removing the master items restriction. But nothing else including duplicating or downloading the App

And another option where users can relaod an App as required. Most of my clients users are happy with once a day reloads but every so often they want an immediate update. So what to do. Set for hourly updates or give these users the owners password (I did a bit of both).

So rather than just 4 options I would prefer a small tick the box set up. With maybe 10 or so options

Self service Yes No

Create own measure Yes no

Access non-master dimensions

Reload App

Duplicate App

Remove Master Bookmarks

Create Master Bookmarks

etc

Above post

The various 'Shared Spaces' (streams) rights a user can be given is as follows

1. View (Apps in stream). View sheets plus set own bookmarks plus set up user stories

2. Edit (Apps in stream). As above but can duplicate App sheets. And can also duplicate or download the entire App. When doing a duplicate App within a stream the user doing this then becomes the Owner of the duplicated App (see below Owner). The user doing this will have to set up new Data Connections unless the Data Files are stored in the applicable 'shared Space' folder (the original owner can give any App duplicator access or not)

3, Is Admin. As above (edit) but user can manage (other) users rights. But 'Is Admin' can not change the script of the App unless is the owner. Or reload the App. Or set or change reload setting

4, Is Owner. Can do as above ('Is Admin') but also change script, reload an App and also set up reload schedule

As monthly subscriber i have finally the chance to try QSB before QSCB is shut down 15.Dec.2019 - thanks for the generously long period for testing.

Up to now it was a unpleasant experience, all kind of trouble uploading files in a size which work in QSCB but not in QSB.

Where the hell can i find out about consumed storage? By shrinking the file from 128MB to 55MB  i can successfully upload. The data is loaded locally with qlik sense desktop, the app is uploaded afterwards - this works with QSCB but apperantly not with QSB.

Is this related to space restrictions i don't really understand? And again where the hell can i check it?

Frustrated,

Thomas

I am having issues with QSB connecting to PostgreSQL.

I have uploaded a QSCB app to QSB but I´m unable to create the exact same connection as before. I get "Erros connecting to the Sense service". It´s been 2 weeks since migration and I´m not able to load any of my apps or to get fast response from the technical team.

We're trying to migrate several of our  customers to QSB, but it is a frustrating process:

  1. Existing customers are asked to contact the sales team to receive a 50% discount. We've called the mentioned phone number (+1 (866) 616-4960 ) many times, but calls are not being answered. We also contacted the Dutch office and left our phone number, but never received a call.
  2. Customers with a yearly subscription on QSCB get a 'trial' when they start with QSB, even though they have paid until June/July 2020. Very confusing!
  3. The scheduled refresh of apps has not been working since November 27th. The refresh either fails (without further details) or is still in the cue. A manual refresh in the data load editor seems the only solution for now.
  4. Though you can assign multiple people with admin rights to a space, only the app creator is able to access the data load editor. That is not what I call collaboration.
  5. There is no 'managed space' in QSB which is a big difference with QSCB where you could develop and update apps in the workspace and publish the update/changes when you were done. You're forced to create a new version of the app in your personal space and then move it to the shared space when you're finished and delete the older version.

I totally understand the reasons to create a single platform, but forcing existing (and paying) customers to migrate to a solution that (with less than two weeks to go) still has many issues, seems brutal.

The product itself is still great and I really, really hope that all is being solved in the upcoming week!

@harm_dataspark

  • Customers with a yearly subscription on QSCB get a 'trial' when they start with QSB, even though they have paid until June/July 2020. Very confusing. Im in this situation and it all worked like clockwork. I received an email from Qlik and just followed the instructions. The transferred my clients old QSCB account to a new one. This entitles me to  a 50% price for the account for the remainder of the subscription plus the first renewal. But before the client received the email I contacted support. they responded but ... they should have just said wait for the email. Did your customers not get the email?
  • The scheduled refresh of apps has not been working since November 27th. Back up now. But this is annoying but as long as Qlik resolve these issues quickly and for good.
  • Though you can assign multiple people with admin rights to a space, only the app creator is able to access the data load editor. This is really an issue that needs to be addressed. And I read somewhere that they are looking at this. Also only the one owner can reload the App
  • There is no 'managed space' in QSB. I prefer it the way it is now (less confusing) but maybe owners being allowed to hide Apps in a workspace

@sir_stone

Hi Thomas

"The data is loaded locally with qlik sense desktop, the app is uploaded afterwards"

I find it almost impossible to load larger files direct into QSB. So go via QVDs etc and dropbox

Out of interest have you thought of doing this in a  different way?

@robert99

Yes, you are right. Proofed it yesterday night by uploading all qvd files to dropbox and upload the app without data to QSB, changing the data connection and loading the data from inside QSB.

It  works this wasy- you only have to know about. With QSCB uploading files up to the sizelimit was no problem at all.

We are a small buisiness and used QSCB for governed publishing of apps, not for collaboration in regard of developing apps. The concept of doing the work locally with qlik sense desktop and just uploading the finished app did the job in the past.

Thanks for sharing your experience.
