Cloud Editions of Qlik Sense Product Release - March 2020

As part of our ongoing efforts to lead with innovation in the cloud, we’ll be announcing monthly releases for cloud editions of Qlik Sense throughout the year, outside of our five major releases.  Today we’re excited to announce the first standalone monthly release to cloud, with several new features and enhancements for cloud editions of Qlik Sense.  Here’s a closer look at some of the highlights of the March cloud release:

Qlik Account for Qlik Sense Enterprise on Cloud Services and Optional MFA:

• Qlik Account, the identity provider used for Qlik Sense Business, is now also the default identity provider for Qlik Sense Enterprise on Cloud Services. This feature provides a simple and straightforward way for anyone to get up and running with an enterprise SaaS deployment. Customers also still have the option to use their own third-party identity provider, as well.

• Additionally, multi-factor authentication is now an optional feature for anyone using Qlik Sense Business or Qlik Sense Enterprise on Cloud Services with Qlik Account for their identity provider. Users can configure an MFA tied to their identity at any time to provide an extra layer of security. 

Updates to Content Sharing in Personal Spaces

• This spring our cloud releases will introduce functionality that makes it easier for users to distribute, manage, and share apps at scale in SaaS editions of Qlik Sense. The most significant change is that apps will have to be assigned to a shared or managed space for other users to view and/or edit them. After April, app sharing will no longer be available from the personal space, although individual users will still have access to content in their personal spaces. Between now and April, we recommend users move apps to shared and managed spaces to share with other users (visit our help site for more details). Future enhancements will introduce new capabilities in the cloud management console that enable users to easily allocate apps to spaces and manage user privileges within spaces.
  
  

Bulk Upload of QlikView Documents to Qlik Cloud Services

• We’re introducing a QlikView Document Export Tool intended to provide a convenient way for users to make multiple QlikView documents available in Qlik Sense Enterprise on Cloud Services. There are two options to make your QlikView documents available in the cloud:

• You can create a comma-separated file (CSV) with links to the QlikView documents on your QlikView Server. This CSV can be imported on your Qlik Cloud Services tenant adding the links to your hub.
• You can upload your QlikView documents to your personal space on your Qlik Cloud Services tenant directly from your QlikView Server.

The tool uses the QlikView QMS API and if it is running in DOC mode, the Qlik Core/Collections API is also used. This tool is available as open-source here: https://github.com/qlik-oss/qlik-qv-export.

Its not easier. This stays the same as before except that the sharing from a private space has been removed. So it LIMITS App sharing not improves it

And why have you done this? I am using this feature and without it it will cause me major issues. Its a major change where QSB has been cut back. And I used this option as one of the selling points of converting from QSCB to QSB.

I wish Qlik would stop doing this. Especially after recent changes. Or compensate by offering more shared spaces. 5 is really far too low a number without this option. 10 as a minimum.

Or at least continue to allow users to share private Apps and switch it off for new sign-ons. I'm using this feature a lot as 5 shared spaces is just too limited.
