Qlik Compose for Data Lakes 6.6 End of Support

Qlik's Data Integration Platform is a core component of many customers' data lake environments, handling data ingestion/replication with Qlik Replicate and data lake management with Qlik Compose.  Qlik Compose, introduced in February 2021 supplants Qlik Compose for Data Lakes(6.6 and below) as the data lake management layer of the architecture. Qlik has made substantial investments in the Data Integration Platform to support these components, and this platform will be the ongoing technology for data lake environments.  Accordingly, Qlik Compose for Data Lakes 6.6 will reach the end of support on December 31, 2022.  Customers running data lake solutions leveraging Qlik Compose for Data Lakes 6.6 or below are strongly recommended to migrate to Qlik Compose 2021.08 data lake projects prior to the end of support date .

Qlik remains committed to supporting our customers' data lake environments across multiple cloud environments, and Qlik Compose data lake projects provide a number of enhancements to improve data availability and reduce processing and maintenance operations.

These include:

  • Simplified architecture
  • Low-latency data access with “merge-on-read” live views
  • Improved data availability for write-only big data formats like parquet
  • Automated management of Replicate re-loads

Moving to Qlik Compose 2021.08 requires migration activities rather than a in place upgrade due to architecture updates.  Qlik Compose provides generation of migration scripts and there are documented migration procedures and videos available to assist in the process (please see release notes and Qlik Community ).  Additionally, Qlik Professional Services packages for migration are available if you need assistance (please contact your Qlik sales representative for more details).

  • Please note this only impacts deployments running Qlik Compose for Data Lakes 6.6 or below. Customers running Qlik Compose 2021.02 and above are not impacted
  • Customers running Qlik Compose for Data Warehouses 6.6 or below can follow the documented upgrade path to Qlik Compose.

If you have an existing support agreement or subscription that includes Qlik Compose for Data Lakes, you are automatically entitled to use Qlik Compose data lake projects.

If you have existing Qlik Compose for Data Lake license files, they can be deployed to a Qlik Compose 2021.08 installation.

Qlik remains committed to providing comprehensive support for data lake architectures across multiple cloud platforms.  We encourage you to visit https://www.qlik.com to learn more about how Qlik can help you accelerate business value through data.

If you have any questions, please contact your Qlik sales representative .

Cool! How was your overall experience with them? (specifically Compose perhaps) and what platform did you use for DWH? (like was it om Azure kr Snowflake ect)

I've used both Compose and Replicate. It was an Azure DWH. Creating automated warehouses and data marts could be done. Also the CDC feature on Replicate is useful. Though I believe one ERP integration had certain issues.
