Performance issue when importing NPrinting recipients.

Hello everyone,

I'm having a pretty stalling problem when I try to import recipients into NPrinting.

I'm trying to import a hundred or so recipients into NPrinting from an array of a QlikView application, and the execution time of this Recipient Import task takes, on average, more than 10 minutes to run. For a hundred lines, this average time seems to me completely aberrant.

Worse, when I define a column as "Filter x", the execution of this import task does not finish at all.

Has anyone come across this problem before ? And if so how to solve it?

Regards,

Edit : NPrinting version is 16.5.0.0 (SR5). It tries to terminate the import recipient task but never manages to do it. I'm forced to stop it through the task manager.

No QlikView errors, no NPrinting errors, NPrinting just hangs.

Hi,

So two things:

- 16.5 is very old, please evaluate to update to 16.8 to benefit of all solved bugs. This will no impact on your issue

- Qlik NPrinting 16.* is file based. All information about users are written in an .nsq file that in fact is a xml file. Writing and reading a big text file can be very long and this doesn't depend on Qlik NPrinting.

So you could:

- wait the import time. In fact wait that the .nsq file is written. Be prepared that when that file is opened, for example by the Qlik NPrinting server, you have to wait too that it is read

- in the past when only the 16.* series existed the solution was to split the .nsq into different files. For example create a copy of the original an import some users in the first and some in the second. You will have smaller files but not synchronized automatically.

- move to the 17+ series. It has a repository that is a database that can better manages bigger amount of users. It is a version rewrited completely and suitable for an enterprise use.

I don't understand the problem with the Filter X column. Maybe there is an error in the imported Excel file.

Best Regards,

Ruggero
