Dear QlikTech,
I have a severe issue with NPrinting resulting in report generation failures.
I tried to solve the problem by restarting the QlikView Server service on QlikView Server, but unsuccessful.
After restarting QlikView server and NP server, it worked normally.
However, we are trying to figure out the cause of this issue.
I've looked at the event logs app, security, system, but I don't think there's anything that could be a problem.
Qlik masters!
How can I determine the cause of this problem?
Can you look at the logs I sent you and tell me what the cause is?
If you need more detailed information, please let me know.
Thanks & Regards.
@qwebnm
If you haven't already done so, please start a support case.
In the meantime, please check these points.
It could be a CAL issue.
1 Suggest to manually assign a CAL to the NP service account as per Dedicated NPrinting Server & Engine Service Accoun... - Qlik Community - 1716056
Manual assignment steps can be found therein. This issue may be related to a dynamically assigned.
2. If you have multiple QVS's, ensure the NP service account is part of each QV Administrators group on each QVS.
3. Do a file/open in server as the NP service account to ensure the NP service user has access to each QVW. The point is that if Qlik publisher exists in your environment, the NP service account should be a distribution recipient for each QVW.
Hi @qwebnm
hard one to diagnose - The error you see in connection verification suggests there was issue when trying to communicate from NPrinting to QV. Hard to know from logs what happened. It could be closed port, network issue, account issue etc.. At the time of the issue I would normally RDP to NPrinting as NPrinting service account user and I would try "open in the server" from QV Desktop client the app on QV server. I assume at that time it would not connect indicating some network issues.
post factum is quite hard to troubleshoot those.
Hi,
In the Engine logs there are Authentication Failed errors. Follow @Lech_Miszkiewicz 's suggestion and login via RDP in the Qlik NPrinting server with the Windows user that runs the Engine service ahd try to open the document on QlikView server with the local QlikView Desktop. As an alternative check the QlikView server configuration to be sure the Windows user running the Engine services have the rights to open the documents.
Best Regards,
Ruggero
In addition to the diagnostic points mentioned by Ruggero and Lech,
I see a number of possible issues here
Kind regards...
Thank you so much for your answer.
But, I didn't quite understand.
* Method 1
1. Log in to the QlikView server SZE00031 with the hanosystems\qview account from the Qlik NPrinting server to Remote Desktop.
2. Attempting to open a document on QlikView server (SZE00031) by launching QlikView Desktop on QlikView server SZE00031.
Are you saying to do things in the order above?
* Method 2
- Make sure the Windows user has permission to open the document
Which document should be checked to check the permission to open the document of the hanosystems\qview account?
Please reply if possible.
thank you
Hi @qwebnm ,
no you misunderstood us. You need to:
@qwebnm according to those log files you are on Qlikview 12.10, please confirm?
Please reference QlikView support lifecycle to see if your platform is still supported by Qlik:
https://community.qlik.com/t5/Product-Lifecycle/QlikView-Product-Lifecycle/ta-p/1826339
Also they indicate Nprinting 18.9 (April 2018), according to:
https://community.qlik.com/t5/Product-Lifecycle/Qlik-NPrinting-Product-Lifecycle/ta-p/1826342
that version was no longer supported back in 2020.
Once you have upgraded to supported versions, you can receive technical support (via opening a case) with Qlik, until then posting here on Community is your best avenue for getting help, thanks!
1. When I checked, I think the qview account is configured in the same domain in the group but not in the user.
Is the part I checked correct? If it is incorrect, I would appreciate it if you could tell me in detail which part to check.
Also, it would be appreciated if you could refer to the captured data from 1 to 1-3.
2. Qv service account and NP service account are different.
Where can I confirm that it is being shared?
3. It is not part of the load script.
4. I didn't understand. can you tell me in detail?
5. Where can I check if the document is in an open trigger?
I can't speak English, so I'll ask through a translator.
I am having trouble viewing the video.
Please reply if possible.
thank you!
To Check for unsupported items, follow the article I shared earlier. Here it is again. Read (watch) this and follow from end to end.
Check that you have no unsupported items especially any document on open triggers in this case.
(Unsupported QlikView Document item... - Qlik Community - 1714896)
To determine if hamonsystems\qview is a shared user account, you need to check the windows services console on the QlikView server. Then check the windows services panel on the NPrinting server and compare
If the NP services and QV services are using the same services account then this is 'shared' service account situation.
If you do need to change the service account on the NP server, see this help page.
Only change domain account for these NP services
It looks like you already have a user account hamonsystems\QNPrinting that is already a member of the local administrators group so you can use that.
But once you change the service account, you will need to log into the NP server as the new np service user account and do the
File>open in server to retrieve a cal from your Qlikview server as the new NP service account.
If you have not assigned a CAL to this QNPrinting user, then follow the steps in the article also provided above to manually assign a CAL.
Kind regards...
Thank you for your response. I have reviewed the link you provided.
I came across the link that instructed to check for unsupported items.
The article mentioned version details, and the current version being used by the company is 18.9.5, which is higher than the versions mentioned in the article:
"Below QlikView document items are NOT supported in NPrinting 16 or NPrinting 17+ platforms."
Does this version also relate to the link you provided?
If possible, I kindly request your response.
Thank you.
